CSA Organization and Information

As stated in the CSA Foundation Bylaws (section:1.4):

The purpose of this Foundation shall be to encourage and provide resources for flight instruction and training by providing soaring facilities and equipment for members on a non-profit basis, and to further the knowledge of aerodynamics, the principles and use of soaring, and safety of flight.

As opposed to many other soaring clubs, sites and operations, CSA owns the land, facilities, equipment, towplane and club sailplanes at Owl Canyon Gliderport. The soaring operation is completely run by the CSA membership.

In addition to the normal duties of a Board of Directors, the CSA Board also acts as the overall managers of the CSA aircraft, facilities, equipment and operations with the considerable help of committees and individual members. In this way, all of the members can enjoy the sport of soaring at a very reasonable cost.

CSA has several meetings during the year where members meet to manage the corporation and celebrate member success.

  • Board of Directors Meetings - Monthly meetings of the BOD to discus issues, plan and manage CSA, OCGP and the financial health of the club.
  • Safety Meeting - Annual meeting of the members in the spring to discuss safety topics and
  • Annual Meeting of the Members - AKA Business Meeting in the spring to review club finances, take action where member approval is required and address other topics of interest to the members.
  • CSA Awards Banquet - Annual banquet in the fall to celebrate member and club successes, present CSA awards and generally enjoy each other's company.  BOD members and officers for the year are announced here.
